The Finsbury

There not enough negative words in the world to sum up this place. To be fair, I used to be a regular once upon a time, even then it wasn't great but was a place to bump into old local friends. Has been taken over and renovated a few times now and it gets worse and worse everytime. It has tried to sell itself as a venue for music and its painfully laughable. A lot of the real locals have moved on to better places because it is so unwelcoming. Now, the selection of alcohol, truly shite. The only ale they serve is London Pride, the condition of it is more suitable for pouring over a bag of chips. The prices are ridiculously over the top and keep changing depending on the bar staff of the day. Pride comes in at between £3.20-£4. Do yourself a favour and never go here unless the management starts managing of course. It pains me to write about this place like this but it has to be said. I hope for a better future as so many pubs are disappearing nowadays.

Old Ale Emporium

A great local recognised by Camra as 'Pub of the season' with 4 real ale pumps. London Pride and the rest are guests all kept in wonderful condition. Expect a constantly changing wide selection of ale like Hobgoblin, Brain SA, Deuchars, Flying Dutchman etc. Dave and Hazel run this pub remarkably well with some fun young staff, making a visit always welcoming. There are plenty of TVs for the sport and the jukebox is superb (unlike many pubs). On the outside there is a covered smoking area and seating.
Overall it's a superb local that I would reconmend to anyone. It's a place where everyone gets to know eachother by name very quickly and banter follows tout de suite . Unfortunately it gets overlooked as there quite a few pubs in the area.
